Why use a sleeping bag, sleep sak, baby
sleep bag, sleeping sack?
Using the Lola & Ben®
Baby Sleeping Bag '4 Seasons in 1 Bag' will keep
your baby at the optimal temperature for sleep, remove the
risk of them waking cold after wriggling out of their blankets
and/ or becoming trapped under the blankets.
By using a Lola & Ben® Baby Sleeping Bag '4 Seasons
in 1 Bag' will help baby settle to sleep and by having
the comfort of their sleeping bag will help baby to settle
and sleep away from home also.
How does the Lola&Ben® baby sleeping
bag work?
The Lola & Ben® Baby Sleeping Bag '4 Seasons in 1
Bag has a unique diagonal zip. We've designed it this
way to ensure that it is easy to lay baby into and simply
zip up. The two way zip allows for easy diaper /nappy change
times without unsettling baby. Our high quality YKK zips are
also made in New Zealand.
Why use a Lola & Ben® Baby Sleeping
Bag '4 Seasons in 1 Bag'?
It's so hard to know if baby is too
hot or cold?
With the Lola & Ben® Baby Sleeping Bag '4 Seasons
in 1 Bag' you can select from either the heavier weight
merino liner for winter, the I'm
Snug Liner, or a lighter weight merino liner, part of
the '4 Seasons in 1 Bag' pack,
which is better suited for spring, autumn (fall) and cooler
summers nights. Use the Organic
Cotton Only Baby Sleeping Bag during hot summer days or
when you would only use a sheet on for your own sleeps.

How many layers should my baby wear?
Please layer underneath the baby sleeping bag accordingly.
We recommend only using natural materials such as Cotton
Baby Clothing, or Merino Baby Clothing.
It is also recommended to keep your baby's room at 18 -20
degree celcius.
Why are baby sleeping bags sleeveless?
Will my baby get cold?
The armholes allow for free circulation of air something essential
to prevent the dangerous overheating of your baby. Simply
put your baby to bed in the appropriate garment for the season
and room temperature. The Lola & Ben® Baby Sleeping
Bag '4 Seasons in 1 Bag' is an accessory which complements
your baby's sleepwear and room warmth, together keeping them
comfortably warm all night long.
It is important that baby's hands are kept free (except in
very cold climates) as this helps temperature regulation,
and some babies like to access their thumbs as a natural self
settling aid.
What other bedding will I need?
Use only a flat or fitted bottom sheet on the bassinet/cot/crib
and place your baby in the Lola & Ben® Baby Sleeping
Bag '4 Seasons in 1 Bag'. There is no need to use blankets,
top sheets or duvets when using the Lola & Ben® Baby
Sleeping Bag '4 Seasons in 1 Bag'. This makes our sleeping
bag a very cost effective bedding option for parents and caregivers.

Why doesn't the Lola & Ben® Baby
Sleeping Bag '4 Seasons in 1 Bag have a hole for the
seat belt?
In our extensive trials pre launch we found seat belt holes
to be problematic in that our babies would get their feet
caught in them and wake up tangled and cold. Since babies
spend most of their sleep time in the cot we decided that
this is the place where they will use their Lola & Ben®
Baby Sleeping Bag '4 Seasons in 1 Bag' most hence removing
the need to the seat belt hole. Good routines for sleep are
important to help baby sleep in their cot.
Our unique lay flat design allows baby to be placed into their
sleeping bag whilst asleep and not disturb them too much if
they do fall asleep while out and about.
Fire regulations for children's nightwear
All Lola & Ben® Baby Sleeping Bags are fully compliant
with the AS/NZS 1249:2003 safety standard and as such fall
into the category for sleeping bags requiring a High Fire
Danger Label. Please note that all fabrics burn and the margin
is 1 second between the test for Low Fire Danger and High
Fire Danger Labeling. Please take special care around fires
and open flame sources with your children.
What is a Tog Rating?
The British "TOG"
value is the international standard measurement of all
blankets' thermal effectiveness (how well it keeps you warm).
It is widely used in the UK to describe warmth levels of duvets
and synthetic sleeping bags which quickly can become too hot.
Merino being a natural fibre reduces the likelihood of baby
overheating. At Lola & Ben® we advocate that parents
only use natural fibres with their children. The TOG system
can be a guide when using synthetic materials with baby, but
nothing beats a parent's intuition and guidance in ensuring
baby is kept comfortable.
Does Lola & Ben make a toddler
sleeping bag for babies aged 2- 4years?
We often get asked this question. Whilst the Lola & Ben
Baby Sleeping Bag is ideal for baby up to 2 years of age,
we have decided not to make a toddler sleeping bag as well.
We know with our own children that they were growing out of
their cots, ready for beds, and toilet trained or training
by 2. So a toddler sleeping bag would not have been suitable
for them. Toddlers are often 'ready' for that next stage by
then and ready to leave their sleeping bags. We invested and
dressed our own children in good quality merino pyjamas and
socks to get them through their first winter in beds, while
they were getting used to blankets. This was a more economical
and practical sleep solution as they got good use out of these
garments for the next 1 or 2 winters. Keeping their bedrooms
at the recommended temperature also prevents them from waking
up cold.
